Letters to the editor often ignite debates in a community. They can also be the jumping point for a column or feature on that issue. If we can start a debate on Internet pornography in our cities and communities decision makers at all levels will take notice.
Many newspapers will allow you to submit your letter to the editor via an online form or email.

Following are some examples of statements that you might want to make in your letter. Use the samples only to spark ideas for your own letter – it should be specific to problems and issues in your community or state.
This is another loudspeaker for public debate that is open to everyone and another great opportunity to spark conversation, not only among fellow listeners but in media circles as well. If a lot of people are calling in to talk about an issue the host of the show will be more disposed to dedicate segments and interviews to that issue. Many media personalities like to see themselves as the watchdog for the people and will be more than willing to press members of Congress for answers about why we aren’t doing more to protect our businesses, schools and families from Internet pornography.

An individual who writes a letter to the editor or who calls a talk radio show is doing all he or she can to spread that word about the Internet Porndemic and the Internet Zoning Initiative. The effect is increased if you can get 10, 100, or even 1,000 people writing letters and making calls. Increase the volume of your voice by organizing your friends and family to stand up and be heard!
