The Arizona Republic reported today that Peter Murnane,CFO of Mesa Air Group, was put on administrative leave last week. Mr. Murnane accidentally deleted key information related to a lawsuit his company is involved in when he was deleting pornography from three office computers.
According to Mesa Air Group's attorney Max Blecher "He was cruising on adult Web sites," and subsequently trying to delete the material when he deleted data pertinent to a lawsuit with Hawaiian Airlines. Mesa Air Group says that is has backups of the files that can be used.
But what if there were no backups? What if Mesa Air Group couldn't use the information in the lawsuit? This is another example of the dangers of pornography in the workplace. If, by choice of the company, pornography had not been available in the workplace the company and Mr. Murnane would have avoided this embarrassing and potentially disastrous situation.
