A member of the editorial board of the Deseret News in Salt Lake City wrote an informative piece on warning parents about the dangers of cyberspace.
Despite the nearly daily news stories about children being targets of online predators, or acting out scenes they've seen in pornography online, many people are unaware of the dangers of the Internet. It may stem from a fear of criticizing the greatest communication tool since the printing press. People don't want to be seen as "anti free-speech."
But these fears don't negate reality. The Internet, for all its wonderful and helpful uses is also full of dangerous content and people. It allows us to read and interact with the great minds and ideas of our time; it also provides a forum for perverted predators to victimize our children.
CP80 works to improve the Internet - the freedom from speech is just as important as the freedom of speech, especially within the walls of our own home.
Parents, teachers, communities, and society needs to be aware of the dangers of the Internet - but not afraid of them. We can change the Internet to serve us.
The CP80 Foundation is pleased to offer free training to individuals who wish to learn more about the Internet, pornography, current laws and the CP80 Internet Channel Initiative.
