Families in Peoria, Illinois were told to talk with their children about what they might find on the Internet.
"It's up to parents to incorporate this into their parenting skills," explained Elizabeth Griffin, an Internet behavior consultant "It's about having this conversation early."
The Peoria Journal Star reported that nearly 200 counselors, teachers, ministers, and parents attended the meeting. They were told that as the numbers of children who use the Internet increase, they are becoming encountering and becoming addicted to pornography at younger and younger ages.
The presenters admonished parents to speak openly with their children about Internet activities. Parents should encourage children to talk when they encounter something online.
