6 South African teenagers were arrested and charged with rape, solicitation, and possession and distribution of child pornography after a police investigation into a cell phone porn ring.
The video clips, depicting the minors engaged in various sex acts, were apparently filmed at city shopping malls and quickly spread through blue-tooth enabled cell phones to schools across the city.
The teenagers made an appearance in court and were subsequently released to their parents until further court proceedings.
This is not an isolated incident. It is becoming increasingly popular among teenagers to create their own pornography, often mimicking pornography they've seen online. Many videos are then posted online, creating fodder for child pornographers, predators, and permanently damaging the lives of the children involved.
Today, children are exposed early and often to sexual images and material that they cannot appropriately process and understand. That is why we've taken such great care to protect children from pornography in every other form of media. Why not the Internet?
The CP80 Foundation is pleased to offer free training to individuals who wish to learn more about the Internet, pornography, current laws and the CP80 Internet Channel Initiative.
