Porn Accepted By Young Adults

A survey of 813 college students from around the country found that they find porn more acceptable than their parents. The study indicates that this may be due to the easy availibility of pornography. "We're in an age of pocket porn," explained the study's author, Professor Jason Carrol. Carroll also told USA Today that "regular porn users were more likely to go on drinking binges and more likely to have sex with multiple partners."

Though 31% of the female respondents said they view pornography, more than half believe it is an acceptable way to express sexuality. 86% of male respondents said they've seen pornography in the last year; more than 20% use it regularly.

The study will be published in the January edition of the Journal of Adolescent Research. The journal's editor, Jeffrey Arnett says these attitudes may be influenced by the influx of pornography available via the Internet over the last 10 years. He pointed out, as CP80 has before, pornography is accessible not only on home computers, but laptops, cell phones, and even gaming devices.

This is our porn generation. Young adults and teenagers just coming of age have spent their formative years in a world saturated with sex and pornography. Many become addicted to pornography. Many are confusing pornography with reality - and are increasingly unable to form healthy and meaningful relationships. How many more minds and lives do we allow to be drastically influenced and changed by pornography before we offer families, parents, and children the real opportunity to protect themselves?
