County Court Judge Damian Murphy in Australia sentenced 20-year old Andrew Bowen to 8 to 11 years in jail for raping a 21-year old young woman in her bedroom. The judge called it an "evil and heinous" crime.
Bowen cut the screen on the victim's bedroom window and terrorized her for more than 30 minutes. An Australian newspaper reported that the Judge said the "crime was deliberate, premeditated and calculated, because he had two months earlier bought cable ties used in the attack. A week before the attack, Bowen accessed websites depicting rapes and information on how to avoid leaving evidence at a crime scene."
According to the Judge, "Bowen was pre-occupied with sexual fantasy depicted in downloaded internet pornography -- images that polluted his immature mind and led to his evil crime."
It is likely that Bowen was first exposed to pornography online as a teenager. His crimes were directly influenced by what he saw - a scary ordeal we will only see more of as we continue to allow children to play online where the jump between homework research and mind-numbing pornography is only a click away.
