A study by Tel Aviv University found that 73% of children 9 to 18 give out personal information online. Only 4% of parents believe their children give out such information. 36% of high schoolers admitted to meeting a stranger that they'd met online, and 40% of those said they contact that person regularly.
The study also found that 30% of children regularly delete their Internet history. The study's author, Professor Dafna Lemish, says the filters are generally not helpful because many kids can go to places where filters are not used, like a friend's house or an Internet cafe.
