Today, February 12, is the international Safer Internet Day. Organized by the European Safety Internet network, the day is an opportunity to raise awareness, especially in schools, about the dangers and advantages of the Internet.
This year's theme is "If you wouldn't do it offline, don't do it online." As part of the day's activities the EU organized a 24-hour blogathon.
Individuals and organizations are invited to blog about safety on the Internet.
Safer Internet Day had just 14 participating countries in 2004 - nearly 50 are expected join in this year. There is growing consensus around the world that the Internet needs to be made safer and must respect the rights of all individuals - most especially children.
The CP80 Foundation is pleased to offer free training to individuals who wish to learn more about the Internet, pornography, current laws and the CP80 Internet Channel Initiative.
