In 2006 Hope Community in Dover, New Hampshire decided to switch Internet service providers but wanted to maintain its domain name. The ISP made an error and sold the domain name to a pornographer.
Pastor Steve Spearing only discovered the problem after he got a phone call. The ISP informed Mr. Pastor Spearing that pornographers often purchase domain names that were used by churches to cause embarrassment.
The "adult-entertainment" industry often maintains its right to self-regulation rather than governmental regulation. How can we expect an industry that purposefully seeks out opportunities to deceive and embarrass people, to self-regulate?
To date the pornography industry has shown no inkling toward responsibility or accountability for its product and its effects on society.
