Buried in profiles of the killer are indications that he was into Internet Pornography. His sexual obsession manifested itself in other ways. His writings were full of sexual and pornographic references. He was confronted twice by police for stalking coeds. Female students complained that he was taking pictures of their legs with his cell phones underneath his desk in class. A month before the shooting he hired a dancer from an escort service.
While pornography was not the sole factor that drove him to this horrendous crime, it did play a role. Adding the addictive power of pornography to his already present mental-health problems certainly only made the situation worse.
Knowing that this and other killers are often quite involved with pornography ought to stir a curiosity in the press, and a desire for understanding among social scientists. We must fully examine the effects of pornography.
