Swedish Court Empowers Sex-Offenders

The Supreme Administrative Court in Sweden ruled that a convicted rapist has a right to read pornographic magazines in his prison cell.

The ruling angered prison officials. They are concerned that accessibility to such material will drive the man back into criminal behavior. "It increases the risk of assault for other interns and it is provocative for personnel," said prison service psychologist Elisabeth Kwarnmark.

Do we allow gun offenders access to guns? How about drugs for drug offenders? Those examples may be a little extreme - but the point is well taken. Why allow prisoners access to the material or tools that enabled their crime?
