A former police officer, Samantha Williams, organized Kidproof USA/Canada to help educate the public about protecting children. She sees children's exposure to harmful content on the Internet as a major problem.
“Everybody wants to talk about the predators because it’s the creepy thing,” Ms. Wilson told the Vancouver-based publication, North Shore Outlook , “But I’m more concerned about the access to inappropriate material for children than anything else online.”
The same article discussed the work of Merlyn Horton, who founded the Safe OnLine Outreach Society. She said that not only is children accessing pornography a major problem, but kids creating their own is as well.
“The production of inappropriate material is a problem. Predators and adults with a sexual interest in children don’t actually have to go that far to find sexualized material of kids because (kids are) creating it themselves.”
The reality is that predatory behavior is fueled by children creating their own pornography. Children are often mimicking things they've seen online. A child's access to pornography is just the starting point for a number of dangerous behaviors.
The CP80 Foundation is pleased to offer free training to individuals who wish to learn more about the Internet, pornography, current laws and the CP80 Internet Channel Initiative.
