Newspaper Examines the Porndemic

Last week the Idaho Post Register, based in Idaho Falls, Idaho ran a series of articles examining the impacts of pornography. The paper also followed the story of one particular man, his struggles with pornography, and how it affected his family.

The story tells of "Steve's" first exposure to pornography at age 7, and how as a young child he acted out with other children, the things he'd seen in pornographic magazines. Steve's life followed a roller coaster cycle until he was married, when he was able to get things under control. That was until the Internet.

Pornography has been a concern for generations. The Internet introduce a new level of access to pornography. Children today have easy access to more pornography than at any other point in history. Society has been slow to recognize the effects this can have - and now we find ourselves entrenched in a seemingly unsolvable problem. How do we protect children and protect free speech as well?

CP80 participated in a question and answer session for the articles, detailing just exactly how we can protect our children and our rights.

The articles go on to detail how "Steve" eventually sought help from a 12-Step program. After 25 years he is working to save his marriage, his family - his life. Certainly Steve would agree however, that it would be best if he'd never been exposed at such a young age.

Something must be done to protect our children from exposure to pornography. Something can be done. Tell your friends to visit CP80 to find out what you and they can do to make a difference today.
